Captain Marvel/Billy Batson Headcanon #1, #2, and #3:
I have some Headcanons that are stuck in my head.
So I've been thinking about myths and how Superheroes are the modern myths. Like Greek Mythology. It's just that Superheroes are the new age "Gods" that people worship.
These are stories about heroic deeds and unparalleled evil. So then I start thinking about Captain Marvel and he has a lot of Gods' powers and he's their champion. And it got me thinking about a solo cap story about a modern kid or a kid from the future that becomes the champion just in a universe where our Superheroes (from DC) aren't real people and instead comic book characters, really old Comic book heroes that have been turned into myths. Maybe in this universe Superhero comics stopped being created. And so Billy Batson in this world is chosen to be the champion and the gods he gets aren't soloman, Hercules, Achilles, Zeus, Atlas, and Mercury but instead, they're DC comic book heroes.
Billy with the Strength of Superman, (some DC heroes that starts with H idk) etc etc. it's just gotta make the word Shazam. Or something. And black Adam is the big bad obv, and more and more villains are introduced or something. And we can see Billy interact with these "new gods" cause Superman is a modern day mythos and I just think it'd be cool that Superman is one of the superheroes that he has access to his power. Like a little reference to the fact that Superman inspired Capt Marvel and stuff.
Second "headcanon" I have is that Captain Marvel isn't as strong or stronger than Superman. Wait hear me out please 😭
Ik that this is basically canon in some comics but I'm more so talking about fanfic and fanon Billy. I love the idea of Billy being stronger than Supes but if we think about it a little more. I think both can work. See the gods that are Billy's patrons are based on rl myths we know. I've seen people on Twitter talk about how a lot of modern superheroes are stronger than Greek and Roman mythologies specifically. And basically how Superheros are the modern myths. The strongest thing that's ever lifted is like a mountain (someone said something about Atlas holding the heavens and how that's different or the fact that Superman held it too blh blah blah ignore Atlas) and that's because people back then don't have our modern understanding of space and FUCKING MATH. Basically people kept making stronger and stronger characters.
I also thought of this because of the most recent Captain Marvel comic the 2023 one. How Billy was arguing with the gods and how they were fighting for control of the Captain's body. How they were so desperate to make themselves known to the people of earth to show themselves off basically. To have people worship them again like they used to. I haven't finished the comic I stopped after black Adam was introduced (I need to read it again) anyways that is what I like. The gods arguing and being egotistical. The gods are mad because humanity doesn't worship them anymore and they want Billy to advertise that his patrons are the gods. The patrons are not as strong as Supes. They are ancient beings that cannot keep up with the modern era. But they're still powerful. So after Billy and his patrons have an agreement or whatever Billy agrees to talk about his patrons more often or whatever. This makes more people become more aware of the God's existence and causes a world wide talk about religion (Billy seeing the shit storm he caused: yikes... *Flies away*) and well they get more powerful. Billy becomes more powerful. So Billy gradually becomes more powerful his biggest strength is his magic. Like he's not as physically as powerful as Superman or Wonder woman but he's waayyyy more powerful than people think. Like he curb stomps like 70%-90% of the DC universe. Maybe more maybe less idk much about DC. But add magic into the mix? Yea he's stronger than like 90% of the verse. (Cause he's the champion of magic duh) And actually having Captain Marvel rely more on magic when he's subduing a mind controlled Superman would be like super epic. And then after he's reached his max strength and speed and etc. (Mercury is NOT faster than the flash in this AU yes he does not like the flash family he's jealous) We introduce GOD OF GODS CAPTAIN MARVEL!!! (can you tell I hated that they went NOWHERE WITH THAT THEY JUST STOPPED CONTINUING GOD OF GODS CAPTAIN MARVEL I'M SOOOO PISSED OFF) The old gods fucked off or something idk and REMEMBER BILLY IS THE CHAMPION OF MAGIC WITH THE POWER OF THE GODS!!! Of course he's the champion of every god that has ever existed too!!!! Human gods and alien gods. gods that have existed before and will exist in the future. Most of the more powerful gods dgaf about Billy but some care and some of them are powerful ASF. And Billy gets new patrons. Yes they are the gods from Captain Marvel GOD OF GODS I WANTED MORE OF THEM FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!! And so now Billy is more powerful or as powerful as Supes and Diana.
Have Billy grow stronger and stronger gradually. I want big leaps in power too.
This leads into my other headcanon is inspired by Kingdom Come Captain Marvel/Billy Batson. That Billy is a wild card. Billy exists outside of fate. In this Headcanon fate says that a champion will be born before Black Adam's return. Fate chooses Billy, but in doing so is leaving the fate of the world in Billy's hands. Billy can control his own destiny and fate. And he can interfere with other people's fates. That's what makes him so dangerous because the moment Billy is born in the world, the universe starts to change. It starts to become crazier and more magical. It no longer follows a path. Now with every major decision that Billy makes it causes so much change. It is always important. Always makes a wave throughout the universe. The threats start to get crazier and there's a danger that's bigger than the universe expects. Something Magical.
Billy is the catalyst for this change. And if you were to write the DC world like a complete story then I'd make it so the end of the DC era ends with a Captain Marvel Antagonist. He would be the beginning and end of DC. At least in my AU. Or how I'd write Captain Marvel.
Like you're gonna give a character the title Champion of Magic, God of Gods and not have him become basically the most powerful being in existence!? BRO C'MON.
Anyways that's my headcanons and AU's and Opinions on which direction people should go with Captain Marvel/Billy Batson's character.

Belated weekly thoughts-
Mostly because this was too big of an ep to completely skip and I really wanna clear up a few misconceptions I keep seeing in the comments. I know only a small percent of readers see these, but at least a few of you will have the canon facts:
First off, just some personal thoughts-
I get asked a lot of reader input has ever influenced the story and, aside from a few fan-servicey memes like Roof Blank, the answer is no for the vast majority of the comic. This episode was kind of the one exception. I definitely never intended to address Rex's ace identity in the comic (outside of his obliviousness), but the more people learned he was canonly ace, the more I realized how important that was to a lot of people, so I thought it'd be cool to actually canonly address it- of course in a way that's realistic. To be clear, Rex absolutely has no idea what asexuality is, and I doubt any other characters do either. This comic does not take place in the digital age, so Rex doesn't have resources like twitter and reddit to help him figure this stuff out lol. He just knows he's not experiencing attraction the same way everyone else seems to, and that's what this episode is addressing.
Now as far as misconceptions- He is not aromantic. I've seen a few people jump to that? And I'm not really sure where it comes from, because he is very much in love with Bell, as I thought (?) I made clear in this scene. I understand the demi assumption, but I don't think he's that either. Bell's just the first person he's felt romantic attraction to, but he does not have sexual attraction (towards her or anyone). However, he's not repulsed by the idea, and that was also important for me to depict, as someone who...basically identifies the same way haha.
Now, for the BIG misconception- Bell potentially taking Lyss' face. So let's clear some things up:
This would not kill Lyss. She got plastic surgery on her nose that Bell already stole, so she would have a way to breath if Bell took the rest of her face.
Lyss would be able to resume a completely normal life after some reconstructive surgery. Blank victims still have a mouth and eyes under their sealed flesh. She explained last season that the only reason she's missing her eye still is because her parents wouldn't pay for the surgery to fix it after she moved out. Basically, giving Bell the rest of her face would just result in a painful and expensive surgery, but she would be by all means fine.
Not so much a misconception I've seen in this episode but just in general when I bring up the reconstructive surgery point- No, this does not mean you can just keep having your face stolen over and over and over. Your face gets a little harder to rebuild each time, and it's very expensive and painful. Think like an acid burn victim getting facial reconstruction, but just smoother...then getting in the same accident and surgery over and over. Surgeons can only do so much.
Bell would not "lose herself" or "become Lyss" if she stole the rest of her face. At this point, Bell is practically a half-blank in the sense that she fully her own person with her own personality, and stealing the rest of a face wouldn't really change that beyond maybe some influence- Much like how when Rex stole Mikiah's face, he didn't stop being Rex. He still maintained the personality and preferences he had as Rex, but just now has knowledge and memory of all of Mikiah's personality and preferences. Bell is slightly different in the sense that she *started* as a copy of Lyss, so many of their preferences and identities are the same (i.e, if Lyss is a straight cis girl, Bell would be a straight cis girl. If Lyss hated cilantro, Bell would hate cilantro), but she's developed in such a different environment from Lyss, that she has very much adopted her own unique personality (though with traits from Lyss, like her fieriness), and taking the rest of Lyss' face wouldn't change that. She would just have memory and knowledge of the rest of Lyss' life. The only real consequence of taking her face might be...getting some unpleasant memories of Rex and Scion, but even then, Bell has grown into such an understanding and forgiving person, I don't think she'd hold those past actions against them (except maybe Scion for the whole attempted murder stuff).

i'm kinda new to the chuggington fandom. i used to own the episodes on dvd but idk where they went. anyway! I figured it'd be cool to hear the thoughts of someone invested in the show, to get a new perspective on it, so i myself could become more invested! do you have any thoughts you'd share to an amateur train appreciator??
OMGOSH 👀 👀 👀 👀 👀WELCOME ABOARD!!!!! 🚅🚄🚈🚃🚂🚂🚂😄😄😄
I've been into the show since 2011-2012 I think... pretty sure before Cars 2 came out- or maybe after... memory's a bit rough in that area. I was first exposed to the show by my younger cousin who watched it on Disney Junior, or at the time, Playhouse Disney, and also had the DVD Let's Ride The Rails, which I now own, playing in my auntie's van one morning on our way to school. I would later track down Disney Junior myself to find the show.
It was pretty much the main reason I've hung around Disney Junior. As a kid who loved trains because of already being a Thomas The Tank Engine fan, it just to captured my interest so quickly and I was hooked.
I'd say the characters and designs are mostly what I love about Chuggington. While there aren't really antagonists in the show they all have their own quirks and distinction from each other which balances it out well.
Wilson is both my favorite to draw and favorite overall. While I haven't gotten to making my own scripts for my planned fanseries yet, his ADHD personality is just pure spirit animal energy when I look at how he's characterized by the show and by myself. I also relate to him to an extent in some areas. He's practically my son lol
The episodes are mostly well written, and miles better than Thomas was at the time... (*COUGH* SHARON MILLER *COUGH*)
Chris McHale's music for the show some of the most unique I've ever heard and the fact we don't have more of the show's score available in high quality than we do is a crime.
Production slowly went to hell since Season 3 onwards, due to investors pulling out for unknown reasons, resulting in S3 being cut from 26 to 14 episodes, Season 4 being rushed and strictly formulated towards the advanced training agenda, (but the episodes were not by any means terrible) and S5, while better than S4, was entirely funded by TOMY resulting in only 10 episodes. After that, Ludorum Entertainment was on the verge of bankruptcy resulting in the show being on hiatus for five years until Herschend Entertainment purchased them, but things weren't that much better.
Season 6 or Tales From The Rails is sadly where Chuggington truly dropped in quality due to Herschend's low budget and their inexperience with the show. Many characters and locations were written off and a number of the voice actor recasts were not too great. Not to mention occasional mischaracterization (mostly Brewster), continuity errors and overall rather shifty writing quality. The merchandise also plummeted in quality and the pandemic caused several delays, and this whole disaster ultimately led to Season 7 being cancelled as of November last year... 😔
While Season 6 was a failed comeback and is NOT fit to be regarded as canon to the first 5 seasons, it still has a decent number of episodes that are good to okay enough at best, and I do plan on rewriting the misfires of season 6 at some point.
Despite all the hardship this show faced, production, performance, and reception-wise, Chuggington is still very much an enjoyable and mostly solid series. I commend both Ludorum and Herschend for not going down without a fair fight and I've very much grown to love the show just as much as Thomas.
To the point where Thomas content is not my top priority anymore and hasn't been for some time now, seeing as thousands of people do Thomas content already while Chuggington content is very scarce and slow going, even with more people finally appreciating and warming up to it, since there's far worse out there nowadays... media ain't what it used to be so good f---ing luck... 😑
With all the moping and mourning aside, thank you so much for joining us, you don't know how much it means to me to have another person hyperfixating on this underated and criminally disregarded series, but it's important to remember that you don't choose the hyperfixation. The hyperfixation chooses you >:3
I am an artist, editor and headcanon writer, and slowly pushing to write up my own fanseries which takes place after S5, and I even have my own roster of original characters and locations in progress, one OC I've already revealed, and another that was actually created by a Tumblr buddy of mine, @lomotunes2008.
So make sure you follow my art account, @masterjarthub - with notifications on, cuz I may pump out surprises over there!
But for until then, welcome to The Chugger Cult! 🚂🚄🚅🚈😄😄😎😎
Enjoy your stay. 😊

some headcanons about sebastian solace from the hit game pressure roblox
to start - this may seem unimportant to you guys but its important to me: that ring on his finger is about as serious as the squirrel stapler room (that is, to say, the whole thing is a bit that the devs have included in their silly project and i will be treating it as such) (for selfish reasons, of course, but idc!! i'm having fun with this stupid game that i love and thats all that matters) (update on this: as i'm typing, i'm finding out that zerum is serious about her and sebastian being married which is honestly kinda...) (like sure fine that's cool and all if he were JUST your OC but sebastian has reached a point of publicity where he is more than that. obviously, i think it's rude and terrible and disrespectful to disregard a creators wishes as to how their character is used in fan-made content (this especially goes for NSFW art cause i think its fucked up if people make that sort of content of a character and POST IT after the creator explicitly said not to). at the same time, there are many people on the internet who do not care and will do what they want regardless. i think it'd be fair for her to ask not to have any of it sent to her specifically or posted in the Pressure server that she co-runs where she will obviously see it but she's saying she doesn't want anyone to make that sort of stuff period which is unreasonable and will only serve to hurt her in the long run. i don't know how old zerum is but this is reminiscent of my own (early) internet phases where i would become EXTREMELY attached to a character and refuse to acknowledge that that character existed differently (or at all) to someone else (i don't want to admit it was a sans AU but i really don't think i have a choice). i really hope she gets past this in a healthy way and comes to understand that a character who's been made public the way sebastian has been made public has a very different dynamic than an OC that you're sharing with your friends)
☆ pretty basic and angsty interpretation and im positive most people in the fandom agree with me on this - he doesn't like getting hit with the bright light not only because of the angler fish DNA making his eyes sensitive but also because it reminds him of surgical lights (which is why he has a Take No Shit policy (since the update) for expendables flashing him) (yeah, he has a pretty short fuse already, but he wouldn't deck an expendable for leaving and coming back in once nor would he shoot them for using the keycard on his wares) (so even though its because of the DNA mixing, i like headcanoning theres more to it for funsies)
☆ can and will let the expendables die in his shop because then he doesn't have to leave to collect all the shit they drop (on that note, wags his tail and chuckles when you buy stuff cause he knows it'll ultimately be useless and he'll just get it back)
☆ collects data so he has records of urbanshades bullshittery (so he can prosecute their asses the second he escapes) AND so he can re-discover his own identity (this plays into my headcanon that he's slowly forgetting what he used to look like as well as what his life used to be outside of urbanshades teensy weensy ginormous fuck up facility)
☆ i know this is (basically) canon but i'm solidifying it for myself by calling it here: he's chilean american (and speaks chilean spanish) and i know like i KNOW if his radio was working he'd be blasting Bio Bio or Futuro or Pudahuel 24/7
☆☆ bonus!! he 100% listens to mid 90s - early 2000s emo music now (have you even seen him) (that mf painted his nails pitch black in middle school) (walked out the door listening to Green Day and One Last Wish on his walkman while his mom kissed him goodbye telling him to have a good day at school TRUST) and his favorite chilean genres are nueva trova chilena, folklore, cueca, and punk melodico! (im not entirely familiar with chilean culture and music so if anyone here is chilean and likes Pressure PLEASE chime in i'd love to hear your thoughts)
☆ on the topic of family, he would help his mom cook and clean sometimes when his older sister was out (his dad helps too!!)
☆ twirls/plays with his hair (mostly because he doesn't have anything else to fidget with) (projecting he's self conscious about it cause thats why i play with my hair whoops)
☆ soft spot for teen/young adult expendables that he doesn't have for the older ones (every time he sees an expendable younger than 30, his disgust and rage towards urbanshade grows)
these are all for fun and just my personal opinions/headcanons!! i'll update these eventually (maybe) and i wanna hear what you guys have to say too :D

fun lion guard au: a royal mjuzi for the outlands.
now hear me out, i think it'd be SO cool to see an animal in the outlands chosen to help jasiri with her duties. i know in canon mjuzis are chosen at birth... but if you go with the presumable concept that no animal communicates with the lions of the past besides mjuzis, then it could've easily been a missed vision, especially as it seems mjuzis are usually mandrills and they seem to focus mainly on the lion royal family. besides, if rafiki got a vision that an outlander was chosen to be a mjuzi, he'd probably be in such disbelief that he'd play it off as mufasa pranking him lol
also you could argue that ushari got a vision opposed to just wanting revenge against the lion guard, and that's he's the royal mjuzi of resurrected!scar. he's by his side advising him. he doesn't necessarily do everything a mjuzi of the pridelands would because... you know... he's working for scar?... but it could also be room for a redeemed ushari au :D
but all in all, any outlander as jasiri's royal mjuzi would be fun and interesting!
i wanna like to add who i personally think would be funniest :3
this guy. yes, nduli. partly because i love him BUT i do have some reasons behind my choice for this specific au! including:
he's a crocodile
he tried to kill king simba. just imagine it, a mjuzi- who are typically aligned with royalty- who attempted assassination of the king of the pridelands
he was banished to the outlands, which makes him being the outlands' mjuzi even more funny seeing as he's originally a pridelander
he was involved in fights with jasiri multiple times, and now he's her royal mjuzi. i mean, come on, that's hilarious
to add on to that, kiburi's float are listed as neutral allegiance after scar was defeated. they don't have any alliances, or at least kiburi wouldn't care to, but then his float member has to, or even willingly, becomes mjuzi LMAO
have i mentioned that he's a crocodile? there's likely a reason mandrills are royal mjuzis, because of they can use their hands and feet effectively. but a crocodile? man's only got his mouth and maybee his tail
the reason i picked him over others is because, as with @devilsrecreation's great headcanons, i think he's the youngest of the crocodiles and one of the youngest in the outlands too. because of that i like to think he's pretty optimistic towards any situation, to the point where he's naïve. just imagine it. jasiri comes up to kiburi's float like, "hey, uhm... nduli's supposed to be royal mjuzi... :|" and while kiburi is confused af, nduli's just goes "oh, okay!" because he's a bit of a follower. no shame on him tho i think it sells the whole thing more lmao

Blind Earthshaker Au
I wanna see a series rewrite where everything is the same except Percy is blind but can see better than everyone around him and has Katara's ice bending and toph beifong's Seismic Vibration Senses.
Like his dad is called the earth SHAKER so I don't think he can bend the earth too well but Percy is like feeling and making tiny vibrations/Earthquakes with his feet to see. He's super weak to air based projectiles think arrows. Or like literally anything a wind spirit picks up and throws in his general direction.
(He will tap his foot like an angry rabbit when hes stressed or caught off guard. I'm thinking wind spirits since they don't touch the ground OR have any water inside their bodies)
He can also "see" like where all the water is around him in a certain distance. Like mentally he has a 3d map of where things are. He doesn't like going places where theirs not a lot of water/or gorund. he can like tell when people are nervous by the speed of their blood flow/ the rhythm of their hearts. And is super precise with his ice bending be cuz of it.
Maybe Sally dies early or something and like we've got like 7 year old blind Percy wandering the streets but like since he can see where all the monsters are with his vibration earthy senses he can avoid them really well. Like "oh huh that guy has Hoooves? Nope. Percy outta here. Noo thanks." Since the mist is mostly sight based, and stuff, I feel like Percy would have a HUGE advantage.
In cannon it's shown that Percy is like really clairvoyant, what with all his dreams and stuff. So in my au he knows about the big three pact, and is just bullshiting people into thinking he's related to Khione goddess of snow and ice. And desperately trying not to let into the fact that he's blind.
(Luke/or/annabeth/or/Leo/or/Rachel/or Whoever he ends up being best friends with figures it out eventually be cuz theyve been friends for so long.)
At some point he runs into an 11yr old Luke pre- Luke meeting Thalia&Annabeth. And then we have them having the dynamic of Percy being a manic feral little shit and Luke trying to be responsible and protect him but ends up being the one protected all the time. I think it'd be funny.
Or maybe he runs into 7 year old annabeth and they become badass -cant be beat- besties. Percy snipe murdering every spider in a quarter mile radius, after he finds out annabeth is afraid of them.
I'm more partial to the meets Luke one cuz then when Percy and annabeth go on their first quest we'd get this fucking glorious scene:
Annabeth: no don't look Percy! You'll die!
Unhinged feral blind Percy: hahaha bitch u thought!!! *He says as he uncaps riptide witch was hidden in his hand.*
Medusa: *gurgling noise be cuz there is now a sword in her neck.*
Or in book two:
Circe standing with Percy Infront of enchanted mirror: isn't there Something u wish u could change about ur appearance? Drink this magic smoothie!
Unhinged feral blind Percy: haha bitch YOU THOUGHT.
Circe is now being held at knife point. (Or.. smootie- icicle point?)
Or if a pissed off god flashes their true form.
Hera: how... how are you alive?!
*Percy with his head tilted/angled so it looks like he's looking at them.*
Percy: *sing-songy voice* I know something yoooouuu doooonnntt! :)
Or if he gets hit by cupids arrow.
Cupid: the next person u look at with direct eye contact you will fall helplessly in love with them.
unhinged feral blind Percy: HAHAHA BITCH GUESS WHAT!
I'm sure there's more areas in the books or just Greek mythos in general where being blind is actually an advantage, but I can't think of any off the top of my head.
Or oooor -this is the one that I see being most likely to happen- hear me out: he runs into LEO. Since Hera was using the mist like crazy to hide him, but Percy is unaffected/immune to the most because He. Can't. See. It.
They steal/hijack an RV to live in. That could be cool. Leo has trama based on like burning people, right? Percy in canon Swam in LAVA, boy is fire-fucking-PROOF!! Fire and ice friends!
('oh my gods, they were roommates' perleo shipping intensifies)
Leo probably: you're nickname shall be Snowflake. Becuz ice powers.
Leo mentally: "wow! this person is really pretty, and funny and is like me, AND THEIR FUCKING FIREPROOF?"
Leo mentally: lets get fucking married.
Or maybe Sally doesn't die and Percy's blindness is known. He goes to school and guess who volunteered to help read his paperwork to him. That's right our favorite eco-rights activist: Rachel Elizabeth Dare!
Since Percy is blind he doesn't? Have dyslexia? I'm not entirely sure about how to explain this one. But like he's blind. People read things for him. (so he isnt effected by having dyslexia, becuase someone else is reading things for him.) He'd have good grades. Percy is sooo fucking smart. But like no one remembers cuz annabeth is always putting him down with all that doubt in canon. "Seaweed Brain!" I hate that nickname. Fuck canon annabeth. U don't have to put others down to have confidence in yourself omfg.
someone who isnt me write it. this is a writing prompt go! fanfic writers gooo!
#toph beifong#percy jackson#Blind Percy Jackson#Pjo#luke castellan#waterbending#bloodbending#Earthshaker Percy#Earthshaker powers#Feral Percy Jackson#Unhinged Percy jackson#Bloodbending percy#perleo#rachel elizabeth dare#leo valdez#writing prompt

random thought during pre s4 rewatch: was klaus's mom in the void real? or was she there because it was klaus's personal heaven and he wanted to see her?
Nonnie, you came for my heart with this one LOL. Oh, man. I hadn't considered that.
I like to think, personally, that she was real, though, if only because being able to create copies of people who actually existed raises a few complicated questions. Like, say that wasn't the real Rachel--what happens if the real Rachel's spirit and Klaus' fake Rachel somehow cross paths? And if Klaus could have created a fake version of anyone because it's his own personal heaven, why wasn't Dave also there? Can it really be heaven if the person you're with isn't real?
I suppose you could say that crossing paths wouldn't normally be an issue for anyone, that when you die, you go to your own personal heaven in the Void and you can't waltz into other people's idea of heaven and Klaus is just the weird exception (perhaps another reason why god dislikes him). But if Rachel isn't real, and actually doesn't care about Klaus... I dunno, that's a bit sad. The writers hurt Klaus a lot, but unless it becomes a plot point next season, I can't see them hurting him in that particular way when they put so much focus on his reunion with Rachel being a powerful, sweet thing.
The angst monster in me loves this theory. But I think it's more likely that Rachel being real is canon than not. It'd be cool if S4 expanded a little more on how the Void works, though. Do personal heavens work like different universes within the "universe" that is the Void, and you only cross paths if your heaven doesn't contradict someone else's? Or are they more like individual rooms that people can travel between, Klaus just speeds up the process by being able to phase through heavenly "walls" like a funky ghost? Was Reginald in his own personal heaven? Does hell simply not exist? Who's pulling the strings here? The little girl who may or may not be god? Can Klaus?
I'm getting off topic, but I have so many questions about the Void. I'd love to know what y'all think!

What characters you didn't like or was indifferent about at first but now they are your favourites (or you just like them now) and what was the thing that changed your opinion?
For me it was
Amanda. Opinion changed when I finally decided to stop and think about her and then discovered beautiful exploration of her character and role by konami-code-ao3, especially the one with how her relationships with Connor are romantically coded by the game itself implying how close they actually are, which is something I missed myself and therefore thought of her as far less important. And so I was converted
Alice. I hated the twist SO much, I hated how she and Kara aren't allowed to express anything but constant fear and worry and Alice isn't allowed to be anything but a scared kid. I wished she was human. But then I thought about their story from Alice's pov and it was so much more tragic than if she were human, so nuanced (if only it was given attention to actually explore) that I realised that no, I don't actually hate her character, just the absolutely terrible way her story is written and sacrificed for the sake of a twist.
Perkins. In game it was just a punchable face that barely appears, but thinking about how important he actually is for the story to show human's side of the conflict made me appreciate his character a lot more and wishing we could get more of him in game, because it makes it more interesting. I think it was once again konami-code's notion on how it'd be cool to see him and machine Connor working together and DAMN yes, absolutely.
North. I'll get shit for it but I really much disliked her after my first play-through but mostly due to inevitable romance that occurs if only Markus doesn't act like a total asshole towards her. I am not fond of romances that seem to appear out of the blue (and in that specific play-through it wasn't making much sense, just looked like a token get-couple), and I was really betrayed by how game doesn't give you an option to actually pick it yourself or refuse, but fandom's love for her character and this whole "north as a companion" changed where I stand.
Emma. Now here I never disliked her (of course) just haven't really thought about her at all. When I finally did, it somehow grew into an interest where I now think about her often and really like how it becomes more of a distinctive character in my head. I like thinking about her prior to canon, what she was like, what she believed it and things like that, but what made me first start this chain of thoughts was overthinking the fact of her apparently being some kind of child video blogger. I won't talk about how things like that can be harmful for kids in real life, but it's an interesting detail about her character that just allows me to extrapolate from. Also, thinking about her living and growing post canon with such a tremendous trauma in a world where androids are becoming recognised as people, making them unavoidable. It's just...damn, her pov is just so fascinating to me.

analysing tskym using laufey's songs pt.1 - Magnolia
Magnolia, she could have anyone in the world Floats around town in a golden gown Born in a castle on a cloud
It's kind of late in my time zone, so this will be a short one!
It was very obvious - even before this panel - that Tadashi admired Tsukki. On their first meeting, Tadashi witnessed how Tsukki was capable of saying whatever he wanted in front of the bullies who had tormented Tadashi. He called them lame, without any hint of fear. It was three versus one, yet Kei didn't hesitate to speak his mind.
Magnolia, prettiest girl that I know Stars in her eyes, handpicked from the skies Beautiful soul
And even after they discovered that Akiteru wasn't Karasuno's ace, Yamaguchi still admired Tsukki. It really shows how, despite Tsukki himself putting all his worth and his brother's on the supposed position Akiteru occupied in Karasuno, Tadashi thought Tsukki's coolness went far beyond that.
It's on the way he talks, and walks and stands. Yamaguchi wanted to be someone like that. And he oh so admired Tsukki - but he also envied him. Deeply.
How can I compete with her? Perfection is the only word I think of when I think of Magnolia
It's very possible that Yamaguchi has insecurities about his appearance. After all that bullying he endured as a kid, it wouldn't really be a surprise for anyone. Tsukki canonically is popular with girls, he receives tons of valentines letters, you get the gist. I don't think Yamaguchi is unpopular, but he definitely doesn't have the same popularity than his best friend.
Even if Tsukki is much more introverted, closed off - he still does better than him. Again, without even really trying.
And Yamaguchi gets it. Really, he gets it. Because he admires and thinks Tsukki is so cool exactly for those reasons. It wouldn't make sense if he got upset because others see the same he sees in Tsukki.
...but, still.
Magnolia, she can move oceans and rivers with ease A word from her lips, her sirens kiss Will send you straight into abyss
A major part of Yamaguchi's character is that he, unlike Hinata, Kageyama, unlike Tsukishima - he doesn't have that same...talent? Innate hability? Whatever it is, he doesn't have it at the start. Kageyama has been training his whole life. Hinata has been diligent for years and for that he has an amazing physique. Tsukki? He has the height and a great game sense.
Despite how much he would like to, Tadashi doesn't have that.
Magnolia, I wish she'd give her secrets away Enchants everyone and I think it'd be fun To be like her someday
And if he doesn't have that, well, it seems that there is no other way out of that other than working hard, right?
That is what makes Tadashi such a great character for me. People often say he is the most realistic, but I honestly think that characters like Tsukki are. Because Tadashi and Tsukki are different sides of the same coin. They both feel inferior. But the way Yamaguchi handles it is much more mature and freaking cool than Tsukki's.
Tsukki gave up. Tadashi didn't. Despite the great disadvantage he had, Tadashi didn't quit. Because he wants to be proud of himself.
And Tsukki...Kei has everything that Tadashi would like to have. He is cool, he is tall, he is hard skinned, he speaks his mind. And yet...and yet...
I do think that, despite how much he loved him, Tadashi had to be resentful of Kei at least for a moment. But not because of envy or jealousy, because Tadashi is the type of person that will work for what he wants.
It's because Tsukki doesn't try - and what used to be such a cool thing becomes lame. Because Tadashi knows that, deep down, Tsukki would like to be better.
That is what is so annoying. That is what is so frustrating. Because Tadashi would like to have those things but guess what? He does not. And who gives a damn? He'll just work and bust his ass until he gets them. That's it.
But Kei has everything, the smarts, the height, the passion...but he stops himself before he gets too carried away.
However, Tadashi trusts Tsukki will make it. It is evident by this panel how much Tadashi knows Tsukki will make it.
...
If anyone were to write tskym angst, I think this way would be great. Imagine being resentful to the person you love?
There's also one part of me that is sure that Tsukki also resented Tadashi simultaneously. I wrote a bit about that in one of my past posts, but I'll explain it better in the next one.
Thanks for reading!

hii! i am in love with your works. i've read itysg(ainly) several times and cyanide twice T.T you deserve all the love, you've become one of my top 3 comfort authors <3
i have a quick question. do you have a compilation of your abyss lore somewhere? like how you can't cry in the abyss because the salt attracts the enemies (i sincerely hope that is from you and i'm not confusing it with someone else's T.T) uhh, cause i intend to base my research on it :) no issue tho if not
oh! no i don't think i have it anywhere, but it's no trouble to me to just- dump it all here, so-
i'll leave it under the cut, but tysm!! good luck writing and obviously feel free to tweak and change stuff to better fit whatever you're going for!
ok so- this is going to be about canon-genshin's abyss. the only difference between that one and cyanide's abyss is a lack of rhinedottir creatures, so.
landscape
i've always been torn between if the abyss is like- just a small area, like within a huge cave; or if it's its own entire realm altogether. like a whole other world, with its own continents and all that. it feels so limiting to make it only a cave, but it also feels a bit too strange to make it just- mirror teyvat. idk anyway,
under the assumption that it's not as big as teyvat but larger than just a cave, we could look at it like one large landmass surrounded by ocean
the moon spire is off one of the coasts, around the rainforest area
the easiest way to think about it is probably like minecraft's nether. like the overworld is all open sky and lots of biomes while the nether is all claustrophobic and with only a handful of biomes
i think it'd be cool if it's rainforest and badlands/savanna/desert. but not like sumeru- to me sumeru's rainforest is very much like the jungle in madagascar and the desert is like the sandbanks in africa. i think the abyss could be more like the amazon's rainforest, tighter, a lot less giant fantastical trees and more- 'where the fuck am i, i can hardly see thru the vegetation' sort of place. and the desert more like the usa's stereotypical cacti and tumbleweed all dry land and rocky cliffs.
since irminsul's roots have to be down there and i think the abyss is whacky enough to meld with whatever dimension irminsul resides in, then i think we could literally have massive petrified roots in the middle of the continent. like just- sprouting out of the ground and making this gigantic thing that you could theoretically see from everywhere if it wasn't so fucking dark. in cyanide here would be where the primordial one would've been sealed to in the original abyss, right in the center.
the rainforest area would be full of winding, impossibly deep rivers- like all of them deep like the mariana trench. wet mist hollows and just- general amazon rainforest inconveniences. if you've ever been there you know what i mean. i think it'd be even more fucked up if it doesn't rain, though.
the desert part would be a death sentence, hence why skirk sticks to the rainforest most times, esp while with childe
the area with irminsul's roots would be like a giant haunted forest/cave system, full of the only sources of natural light down there (some glowing moss and insects)
climate
damp and wet-feeling but it's not water, it's abyssal miasma. like it all feels like a sauna. the temperatures would go from uncomfortably kinda-hot in the day to fucking freezing at nigth.
the rainforest feels even wetter but again, not water. everytime you breathe it feels like you have to force your lungs to take in the air. again, if you've ever been to a jungle or rainforest, you know what i mean.
the desert parts would be unbearably hot, but the heat would come from the ground itself, so you'd feel feverish the entire time - it'd be cool if the sands were obnoxiously red from high iron oxides to make it even worse. the more bearable places would be up on the rock cliffs and outcrops, but since they're the more livable places, that means most of the creatures are also up there. speaking of,
creatures
the rifthounds are in the higher areas of the rainforest, almost a tundra, bordering the roots, where the wolflord has its lair and territory. not edible bc they contain aluminum and other not-safe-for-humans metals, and also there's hardly any meat in them lmao.
the giant clay worm(s) lives underground in the lowland rainforest and nobody has really seen it, so it's a non-issue. it's massive, and the reason why the marshlands on a different side of the rainforest exist. i think it'd be interesting if nobody knew whether it's one giant one or multiple giants. also this would be the cause of quakes in the abyss, it's just whenever the thing moves there would be a tremble in the ground
steelclaw harpies are out in the rocky outcrops of the dessert, hence why you'd be forced to walk the superheated base ground instead of going up. if you've ever seen a harpy eagle, just think that but like- the size of a person, and a bit more dinosaur-esque.
the glass rain whale. kinda like the giant clay worm in that hardly anyone sees it, only when it rains glass over the sea (not the land) you can see it come out of the ocean and fly around. the meagre light of the moon makes it seem almost transluscent, like a ghost whale. it couldn't be the all-devouring narwhal bc it wouldn't make sense lore-wise, but it could be similar-looking.
pillar rats are- well, giant rats that live in the canyons and desert. they call them pillar rats because they climb up sheer cliffaces like it's nothing. also they can scratch through pretty much anything, and have very thick hides, so if you need warm clothes that's what you want to hunt
stonetusk hogs are the easiest animal to catch in the rainforest marshlands, but the meat isn't all that tasty. they're blind, like most other creatures. not that big. like- fucked up versions of genshin's boars.
praying goliaths are giant mantis-like mutant bugs that live in the rainforest. they're big big, like twice the size of a person big, and they're best avoided. you can tell where one passed through by the path of cut down vegetation they leave behind as they move, using their front legs as sharp scythes.
canyon rhinos live in both the canyons and the fog hollows. they're practically bulletproof, fuck-off ugly, and very dangerous. blind from overuse of moping ferns (that grow in the hollows) to hide the salt in their eyes. good food if you can catch them
wraith butterflies are around the water deposits and clay banks of the rainforest and always in the hunt for salt. they have sharp legs to perch on hosts and poisonous powder between their wings. yes they're the ones that make crying a bad idea.
stalkwalkers are the kings of the fog hollows and the reason why you don't go there if you're smart. i have mentioned plenty that they're physically inspired by made in abyss' turbinid-dragon (ryuuzazai?). basically a giant six-legged giraffe/seahorse looking thing. the stalkwalkers would have retractable harpoon-like stalks (stillettos) that they use to walk through the forest and to hunt. massive and blind, see through echolocation.
misc
the concentration of abyssal miasma would be a lot more forgiving around irminsul's roots. basically everything is just better around irminsul's roots, but because it's so nice there, most creatures also go there, so no. the wolflord has set up camp nearby also.
it's dark. like there's no light besides the lackustre light of the moon and the glowing moss in irminsul's roots, so all creatures see through either abyssal miasmic sight or a form of echolocation.
you can't plant foreign crops, the soil won't accept it
most root vegetables aren't safe to eat. rooties are though
there's bugs that fuck with your sleep cycles to weaken you
the sand is black
there's almost no fish in the ocean, so it's not worth it to stay on the shores
it's also not worth it to stay generally uncovered from the moon's light bc it has a weird-ass radiation, like the sun.
i think that's all i had? there's probably some bits and pieces of other things about how the abyss filters the miasma and how all creatures evolved to use it since it's the only available energy down there, but i think that's been repeated enough in the fics hahah
anyway yeah! hope that's what you meant. if not oh well, it was probably about time i compiled it all,,

Caleb's giving me such aro/ace vibes, if they go in that direction with him it would be! so cool!
Also as weird as it is to admit considering... well, everything about him, but I really like Ripper? He serves his role in the show well (being gross/the punching bag/the joke character) but they also give him some layers to make him a bit more interesting and i think Axel/Ripper is actually kind of cute?? Like he feels like Sam to me, one-note at first but they give him extra stuff to do with other characters that make him more compelling to the point where he ends up growing on me? Like how he was able to get some answers right in the glass bridge option A option B quiz challenge! (also he gives me Eddy vibes from Ed, Edd n Eddy and my sympathy for that specific character type might be blinding me)
And I love what they're doing with Bowie and his whole morality dilemma with Raj! Also really hoping MK/Julia becomes a thing, if those older interviews they did before the show aired are still valid and there's still a lesbian couple waiting to be revealed, I would genuinely be so happy if it was them! Their dynamic is everything
totally agree with caleb, i get the sense that he either has no idea priya is interpreting his actions as flirting and just thinks he's doing a great job at alliance building or he's aware but just ignoring that because he wants an alliance with her and he's not interested in a romance. unfortunately after episode 4 i could see him having a moment of "omg priya almost got eliminated and i got sad not because my alliance would be gone but SHE would be gone omg i like priya" which wouldn't be where i want it to go, but if it does go that route i think it'd be funny if caleb has no idea how to flirt now that he actually like priya. but fingers crossed for it just being platonic on his part i love aro caleb and i really like him and priya as friends
i agree that ripper is kind of filling a sam-esque place in the season, ive definitely enjoyed him more this season than i did last season though im not sure i like ripaxel but honestly i think if it wasn't so rushed i might be persuaded to enjoy it. i do think ripper having a crush is very cute and i would love a friendship between him and axel. honestly might write some fics where his feelings for her are onesided but they become friends (kind of already wrote a fic for that lol)
veeeeeery intrigued to see how this moral dilemma goes for bowie and raj. honestly im love the dynamic of the skunkbutt 5, with mkulia going full evil lesbians, wayne and raj being himbos who don't want to cheat, and bowie being the team leader who's caught in the middle. super fun vibes! also BEGGING that mkulia becomes canon because holy shit they are being such sneaky bastards together and falling in love in the process. like even if they don't become canon as long as what's going on now isn't terribly derailed i'll be happy. but i have hope that they will become the first canon wlw couple and i feel like that hope is realistic to have. which is INCREDIBLE.

TSAMS AUs and Designs masterpost
My Lord Eclipse AU, aka "Centiclipse" and "Sunvant"
This AU is, at its core, entirely self-indulgent. I like a character that is scary and tall and has a lot of arms and could kill me. So, naturally, I made Lord Eclipse a little freak and put him into a, like, 50-100 ft long centipede body.
There's no exact story line either, I have a very loose set-up and it can go in any direction at any time as long as I feel like it'd be cool! The only thing I can say for sure is that there is a slow, multi-year long process of Eclipse being loved by all his followers to Eclipse becoming such a shut-in that people doubt if he's even still alive.
You can find the post that started it all here, and everything related to Centiclipse here and everything related to Sunvant here!
It Runs Deeper, aka "no one dies and everyone gets better" AU
OKAY SO LIKE. I don't wanna say too much because this AU does, in fact, have a set story and HOPEFULLY will become a full fanfic someday, but the biggest detail rn is that the canon MOSTLY derails after Eclipse gets the star for the first time. There's changes before that too, since no one dies, but thats where it REALLY changes.
What I will ideally achieve with this story is that I splay every character's heart and soul and brain on the ground for everyone to see and they all have to confront hard and painful truths about themselves and the people around them. Whether they like it or not.
They are my beloveds and I think about them forever <3
Evil Lumini AU
Does this count? I want it to count. Evil Lunar AU except the astral bodies are accounted for and this leads to Lunara and Gemini having constant gayass fights because unfortunately that's the kinda dynamic I love.
The first post me and my mutual made where we tossed around ideas for it is here and pretty much everything else related to it is probably going to be under #evil lunar x gemini. They're fucked up and its wonderful to me ok?
Misc
My Eclipse in a time loop AU that you will only ever hear me talk about in passing through blorbocore reblogs and this post because my mutual asked me.
My silly little Lord Lunar design that is just extremely blatantly Ranni from Elden Ring's outfit slapped onto a different blorbo.
Plus, this old Lord Lunar + Servant Eclipse design I used for a silly Centiclipse shitpost.
And thats all for now I think. good day o7

I think it's really important to distinguish that even a light side romanced-the-Exile Atton isn't motivated by goodness for its own sake. He has a stronger sense of responsibility than before, yes, and he'll get involved when the whim strikes him - and a light Atton will have more of those occasional chivalrous, or maybe just cocky, impulses than the keep-your-head-down man he was at the start of the game.
But he's still a scoundrel by nature, horribly jaded, very comfortable with problem-solving via murder, and he believes in neither the Jedi Code nor the pursuit of atonement. His morality is more Exile-centric than anything else, as in “I'm going to do this to protect them” or “I guess I'll do this stupid dangerous thing because they'll think I'm cool.” Love doesn't make Atton a better person, but it puts him through the motions (and if reciprocated, it'd make him a happier one, which would at least improve his behavior a bit.)
All in all, it's something where I think the game's alignment system can be misleading. People look at Atton mirroring the PC's alignment with that big beam of light behind him and go “he's a good guy now!” But nothing in-game really supports that. Does he approve of a LS Exile's actions? Yes, even if it confuses him and he's tsundere about it. Would he do the same thing in their shoes? Nope – that's why he's so inspired by them. Because they went through the same shit he did and still held onto the things he couldn't. Because he fought alongside Jedi in two wars, watched the pacifists cower as the galaxy burned and watched the war heroes turn into psychopaths, and he doesn't trust it at first, but this carved-up shell of a Jedi, the one who pulled the plug at kriffing Malachor V, is the closest thing he's ever seen to what the Jedi were supposed to be. Atton's portrait is gonna be pretty dang light sided while he's ranting at your Exile that all the Jedi who died on Malachor deserved what they got, and he means what he's saying. The game can stick him wherever on that bar it wants, but it's not serenity and goodwill that fills him, it's a messy morass of poison he's been choking down for years.
His arc is more about ceasing to run from himself, sorting out his feelings and his fears, and finally being able to move forward than it is about redemption. You figure he already had his big worldview shift years ago and made zero attempt to make up for any of what he did or mirror the grace he was shown, and, like... Atton's motivations start and stop with the Exile. Everyone else in the party has some other allegiance or some further goal that shapes their path. Bao-Dur wants to rebuild the planets destroyed in the war. Mira wants to reunite the families it broke. Atton wants to help the Exile, and if they're a lady, he wants to get together with her. That's all he wants out of life... unless he goes dark side, which gets ugly real fast.
While a dark Atton crashes straight back down to the bottom of the bar, I think the lightest Atton realistically gets is the grey background with a dusting of blue at his feet. It's like Kreia says – his potential lies downward. Dark Atton is terrifying, a proto-Sion, a hollowed-out obsessive shell of a man who can only feel anything through tearing Jedi down to his level. Light Atton is just a guy.
It's for this reason that I have trouble seeing him helping to rebuild the Jedi Order as canon implies. He never stopped hating the Order, and he has no stake in it anyway, only you – heck, if you look at becoming a Jedi as the pivotal moment in all of the Lost Jedi character arcs, Atton's decision to become a Jedi is so he can better protect the Exile. It's only a personal choice inasmuch as he's decided this is how he can live with himself, offering his life to someone who's truly proven to him that they're worth it. He's got nothing else anchoring him, to the point where I think he really is better off with the Exile than left to his own devices, even accounting for the influence warp and the probable imminent death. And I think it's telling that Kreia will only predict his future when he has motivations that don't include the Exile.

Hey there! Lurker on your blog. I have to say I agree with your takes. I don't know where people get the idea that Eggman is becoming good. That's never going to change. We wouldn't even have a main villain otherwise! It's much more interesting to see Sage go down a path of villainy and imitating her father like most young kids do with their parents. I love those artworks of them being evil together. It'd be so fun if we got a game where Sage dresses to match her dad more and even attempts to laugh like he does!
It's good to know I'm not alone. 💜 I feel like I'm in this little spot with a very small number of people that don't agree with all loudest sides of the debates right now because I don't believe it's even happening to complain about in the first place. Eggman definitely isn't ever going to become a good guy. I don't know what the fandom is talking about, he's so far morally gray and is still very much evil.
He's the main villain of the series and always will be, he's one of the most iconic ever and they're not gonna make him a good guy and lose that status and replace him with some random guy lol. Sega JP emphasized how he's a bad guy and cool villain the day the update dropped through Sonic channel. All official stuff is still describing and showing him to be very much so.
Since accepting and analyzing Frontiers Eggman much deeper down to every line of dialogue, I realized it's just brought forward a bunch of even more evidence I can use and emphasizes how much of an evil bastard and bad person he in cool new ways that encourage deeper thought. It's been very cool and fun to me to dive in deep as someone insanely fixated on analyzing him XD
And it's also still surface level with the way he was still constantly plotting, scheming, wished he could use what he's learned about the ancients and the end to his advantage, showed low empathy multiple times, laughed at Sonic's death, and made it very clear how much he hates working with Sonic and co. And on top of all that, his dynamic with Sage is based on his narcissism and egotism.
This also didn't change at all in The Final Horizon, it also showed it in even more cool ways and it's great. Sure the fandom created their own vastly different fanon version of Eggman and his dynamic with Sage and talk like it's canon and let it overshadow all the real cool and interesting things about it, but the official media is unaffected. Eggman is the same character I know and love as ever there.
When I shut out what the loudest parts of fandom are telling me to think and feel, I genuinely like what I see and analyze Eggman's characterization to be. I see what they were going for even without Flynn's later writer commentary. And I'm really happy I genuinely like it, I feel happy, content, and at peace with how he's being portrayed and it's relieved me of so much stress and worry.
He's not going anywhere, he's the same diabolical narcissistic egotistical bastard that I adore and find so funny and entertaining! And the new stuff taking him in interesting new directions that emphasize the character he already is and not changing it but further strengthening and solidifying it instead, makes me so happy and appreciate and understand it in even more ways.
That's my funny horrible special guy and I love him so much 🥰
And Sage is still very much not a good person either, knowing all about how terrible Eggman is and still remaining loyal and loving. That combined with his narcissism and ego - the reasons he praises and takes pride in her for the first place - is a delightfully dangerous combination. Just think about how his massive ego and evil could be even further boosted and enabled by her!
And the influence Eggman can have on Sage will also be very fun in return. She's compliant with his orders and knows exactly who he is, what he wants, what he's capable of, and how terrible he is and sticks by him. I'd love to see more of villainous Sage and how Eggman's influence can affect her that way, like seeing even more of the pre Sonic influence Sage will be very fun.
Final Horizon gave us a nice example of how she supports him conquering the world and I'd love to see more of her attitude and feelings on it and what she's willing to do to play her part in it. I also really enjoy art that gets it right and shows Eggman and Sage being evil and reveling in it together. I'm excited to see more because their canon dynamic is fun and has potential to be excitingly chaotic!
Sage trying to mimic aspects of Eggman like behaviors, quirks, and maybe fashion would be pretty funny. I think he'd allow it to an extent, as he'll enjoy how it shows her admiration for him, helps remind people Eggman is her father more which it's easier for him to take pride, and he'll just be very pleased to influence someone in an evil way... so long as it doesn't steal any of his spotlight! XD

Good fucking movie though. A lot to chew on. I have Theories.
So! It's been said before, and not by me (although it was the illustrious and lovely @daddygrandpaandthebeaver who first brought it to my attention), that if Miles is an anomaly and was never meant to be Spider-Man, then it doesn't make sense that he should have to follow all the 'canon events' of a Spider-Man story. Unless, of course, following 'canon events' is what makes you a Spider-Person. Or, at least, somebody thinks it is.
Miguel introduces himself by saying that he's Spider-Man (of course), but then follows it up with, "But I'm not like the others." This is while we are watching him inject himself with something that's visually indicated to be mutant-spider-venom, something that heals a wound in his shoulder and a tear in his suit. The obvious conclusion, of course, is that he's 'not like the others' because he's some kind of energy-shooting vampire government experiment, which we get to hear about a couple times in dialogue. Or possibly because he's got that whole High And Lonely Destiny bit deeply, deeply internalised. One of the two.
But! Not a single line of dialogue in this movie was not on purpose. And Miles comes right out and says it himself, during the big climactic chase scene. "Claws? Is that guy even a Spider-Man?"
Excellent observation, Miles! I don't think he is.
There are the claws. There is the vampire thing. @daddygrandpaandthebeaver also pointed out that Miguel didn't have the Spidey-Sense. And he has to give himself, from the looks of things, regular infusions of spider venom to keep his shit stable. Oh, and there's the little fact that Miguel's whole backstory and motivation is that he tried to take his own place in another dimension once already. This guy has 'imposter' written all over him in 72-point neon font.
So why would he be pretending to be Spider-Man, and why would he be playing enforcer to make sure that the worst moment in any Spider-Man's life always plays out, over and over and over and over and over again? Well, it veers into wild speculation, but like I said, I have theories.
I don't think, in his original universe, that Miguel was its Spider-Person. But I think he was close to them. And, unfortunately, I don't think he knew that until it was too late. Because I think, in his original universe, he was originally a villain. The claw thing makes me think, especially if we're playing off ITSV (and Miguel's motivation is Fisk's inverted, which is super cool, so we're definitely playing off ITSV), probably a Prowler, but the 'government experiment' thing and the imposter situation now has me wondering if this might be how they're going to sneak Venom in there. And I think, much like Uncle Aaron, he was unexpectedly thrown up against a superpowered brat in a lame costume mask.
Only, unlike Uncle Aaron, he didn't stop.
The video we see of Miguel and his daughter makes her look very young. But in the flashback - which, I'll admit, we don't know how much of that may have been fabricated - she looks a lot older. Like an older adolescent or a young teenager. Maybe...about the age Gwen and Miles were, in ITSV?
I think - and, again, wild speculation, but it'd be so thematically coherent! - that Miguel's original daughter was his original universe's Spider-Person. And I think he only found that out after he'd already killed her.
If that's the case, then everything he's doing, the whole 'canon event' situation, makes perfect sense. He has to try to fit Miles into the mold of a Spider-Man story, even as an anomaly. Because Miguel is an anomaly. Because if it's necessary for some kind of tragedy, some kind of unthinkable loss, to happen, in order to create a Spider-Person, in order to create a hero, then what Miguel went through (what he did) was necessary, for him to become the Spider-Man he is now. If the 'canon events' have to happen in order for the whole dimension to continue to exist, then it wasn't only necessary, it was inevitable.
And Miguel really, really, really needs that awful, unspeakable thing that he can never undo to have been necessary and inevitable. Because if it wasn't? If it was just a choice he made, one he has to live with the consequences of? If he could have made a different choice?
Well. That'd be the one thing he really couldn't bear.
(Side note, but if this theory is even slightly correct, then I am also very very very worried about Peter B's daughter.)
